We like to talk with our customers. Over the years we have made many lasting friendships with customers. We don't provide a shopping cart because the things we sell are sacred. We believe in personal contact. We want to help you find the right drum for your needs.

GENERAL ORDER INFORMATION
ALL ORDERS MUST BE PREPAID BEFORE SHIPPING. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover (debit and credit cards), PayPal, and Bank Authorized Cashier's Checks. Please no personal checks or Money Orders.
FOR ALL IN-STOCK ITEMS, we usually ship an order within 1-2 days.
FOR ALL CUSTOM ORDERS, we provide a promise date and do not bill you until we begin to work on your unique drum, rattle or drum bag. * (see below)
We offer a six month guarantee on all of our drums. Our warranty is void if customer oils the rawhide, burns the drum, cuts the rawhide with a sharp object, changes their mind or damages the drum in any other way. This warranty does not cover climate, hurricanes, blizzards, fire, floods, earthquakes, or any other acts of Creator. Drums should not be used as chairs. Sitting on drums can stretch the hides. We can only guarantee our work.
Please save all packing materials until you ensure that your drum was not damaged in shipping. If shipping damage occurs, we will work with shipper and replace your drum ASAP. We do not provide refunds on custom drum bags or custom painted drums, but you will see and approve all sketches before we begin to paint.
We promise quality products and friendly, prompt customer service. When you call The Drum People, you will talk to a live person, either Keith who makes the drums or his wife, Cheryl, who does everything else. If you get our answering machine . . . we WILL call you back as soon as we can.
SHIPPING INFORMATION
We charge a FLAT 20% shipping and handling fee on all orders except powwow drums. We charge a minimum of $10.00 shipping domestically and $30.00 for international small orders to cover postal costs. We have obtained accounts with UPS, UPS Freight and UPS International to provide you with the lowest shipping rates possible. We must charge enough to cover packing materials and labor in shipping.
Powwow Drums: Powwow drums are defined as any large drum that comes with a FREE red oak stand, from 20" in diameter to 44" in diameter. We are artists, not shippers. We ship your drum at cost. We use Freight to ship drums 36" to 44"domestically and going to Canada. Shipping cost for a 24" powwow drum averages between $100 and $130, depending upon your location.
Estimated Shipping Costs on Powwow Drums. These are averages. Actual cost will vary by your location and actual drum you buy.
We can provide more accurate shipping estimates if you give us your address: city, state and zip code. We ship larger drums by freight which dramatically reduces shipping cost.
We prefer not to ship orders overnight or express. We believe that purchase of a drum is a sacred decision, that shoud be made with much prayer and meditation beforehand. We are a spiritual company and we tend to attract customers with similiar values. However, we WILL ship overnight, charging the additional UPS fees and a 10% surcharge on the amount of the order to cover our travel and time to make it happen immediately for anyone who needs a drum NOW!
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS
SHIPPING IS BEYOND OUR CONTROL. WE DO NOT PROFIT FROM SHIPPING. WE ARE ARTISTS, NOT TRAINED SHIPPERS. WE WILL SEND YOU ESTIMATES, AND WHEN SHIPMENT OCCURS, TRACKING NUMBERS.
TRACKING IS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY. ONCE THE PACKAGE LEAVES OUR HANDS AND A TRACKING NUMBER IS SENT, WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE SHIPPING COMPANY. WE WILL TRY TO HELP YOU TRACK LOST PACKAGES, BUT SHIPPING IS EXTREMELY SLOW DUE TO INTERNATIONAL LAWS AND CUSTOMS REGULATIONS.
We ship drums to all countries permitted by the United States. We use United States Postal Service Express Priority Mail for small shipments, as the cost is much less than UPS (United Parcel Service). However, UPS provides much more accurate tracking.
Every country has its own unique Customs practices and regulations. We have never LOST a package, however some drums have floated around custom offices for 6-8 weeks, depending upon the country. Patience is the only solution to customs delays: calling us will not speed up the process. We have absolutely no control over the practices of government offices in foreign countries.
We have a UPS Freight account which gives us 70% off regular commercial rates for shipment of large powwow drums (36" or bigger) in the United States and Canada.
UPS is the only international shipping service for Europe, Asia and other continents. They do not give discounts as the powwow drum must fly on a commercial airliner. Their rates change daily, depending upon flight booking.
Shipping charges to Germany have run as much as $700 for a 30" powwow drum, for door to door delivery. For delivery to Australia, charges for a 40" powwow drum have exceeded $900, excluding duty paid by customer.
We encourage international business, but the shipping prices SHOCK us. We have no control, but we feel that it is important to notify our customers so that you can consider these UPS costs in the purchase of your drum. These charges apply to all U.S. companies, not just The Drum People.
Finally, we prefer that international customers use PayPal because our credit card company charges 24.8% fee on every non-US credit card. Thanks for your cooperation with this insane service charge.
WARRANTY
All of our drums carry a six-month warranty against any defect in merchandise or construction. This warranty is void under the following conditions: sticking the drum head with sharp objects; applying oil to the drum head; covering over 50% of drum head with paint; oil paint on rawhide; excessive weight on the drum (do not sit on your drum); leaving drum in car for several days; leaving drum in dark closet for months or years; using the drum for any purpose other than drumming; climate; earthquakes; floods; hurricanes; blizzards, or any other Acts of Creator; Customs damage. We warranty our work. Anything that happens to the drum outside our control is outside our control. Drumming is prayer. Please respect your drum.
If you are not happy with your drum or the drum fails for meet your expectations, please contact us for a full refund or exchange. We try very hard to match drum with geographic location, considering climate and use factors. But all natural skin drums require some maintenance: (1) provide sun when drum gets cold and goes flat or (2) provide moisture when drum gets too dry and tight.
Our reputation is everything to us. We will make sure that you get a great quality drum because your satisfaction is the only thing that keeps our business alive. CUSTOM ORDER POLICY
All custom orders (powwow drums, drum bags, and painted artworks) are unique. Since we create these custom items for an individual customer, we can not resell these items to someone else. If we commit precious materials such as river-recovered cedar or 5 mm bull hide to one custom size of powwow drum, these materials are no longer available for another drum. Therefore, we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% for each custom order. Upon delivery of the custom order, we apply the entire deposit to the cost of the order. However, should a customer cancel their order AFTER we have committed materials and time to their custom order, they forfeit the 50% non-refundable deposit to cover the cost of our time and materials.
